29th July 2022: WOPM-2022 Registration, Accommodation and Programme

We are now just a month away from the meeting in Birmingham and it is time to register. Please go to https://biomag2020.org/satellite-meetings/ and ensure your place this year. You will also have the option to register for BIOMAG single day at a discounted rate.

The university offers accommodation on campus that can be added to your registration. Please go to https://biomag2020.org/accommodation/ to see the options. If you need to add these on at a later stage please email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Registration deadlines:

The hotel facilities for the meeting are now rapidly becoming more scarce and we are going to have to commit to attendee numbers by 3th of August. That means that increasing numbers after that day is at a higher price, so unfortunately after that date the registration fee will increase by £50.

The registration will ultimately close on 17th of August, so please register as soon as possible for this first full-scale in-person WOPM meeting in three years.

Programme:

We are also pleased to announce the draft programme for WOPM-2022.

9th June 2022: WOPM-2022 Registration

Abstract submission is now closed.

To register to attend WOPM-2022 please visit BIOMAG 2022 (Satellite meetings).

For any questions regarding registration and accommodation please contact: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

22nd April 2022: Abstract Submission

Abstract submission is now open. Please note the submission deadline for WOPM-2022 is Monday 16th May 2022.

29th March 2022: WOPM-2022 Launch

We are pleased to announce this year’s Workshop on Optically Pumped Magnetometers (WOPM-2022), which will be held as a satellite to BIOMAG 2022 (https://biomag2020.org/#) in Birmingham, UK.

WOPM-2022 will start a day earlier than BIOMAG and run for a full day on Sunday 28th of August (plan on a Saturday arrival in Birmingham). The subject of that day will primarily be sensor development and technology while applications of OPMs in biomagnetism will be covered in a separate session on the Monday in parallel with BIOMAG. Additionally, there are several symposia on OPMs planned at BIOMAG optimising the synergies between the two meetings.

We would like to encourage the WOPM community to submit relevant contributions to BIOMAG and be aware that the poster submission deadline is Thursday 7th April.

The submission deadline for WOPM-2022 will be Monday 16th May. The submission will be through this site and will be available shortly.

WOPM-2021 Archive

Thank you to all who participated in WOPM-2021!

5th August 2021: Local Meetings

We would like extend an invitation to the local in-person WOPM meetings, which will take place in Berlin, Glasgow, and Jena on 4th and 5th of October, 2021.

Talks within the virtual WOPM sessions will be broadcasted to local audiences. Regarding the virtual poster sessions, we will try our best to provide enough space and bandwidth such that every participant will be able to join the virtual poster sessions with their own gear. In addition to that there will be possibilities for participants who have submitted poster contributions to present and discuss their work in-person at “real” poster walls.

The in-person meeting is subject to local COVID-19-related regulations that allow us to organize such an event. Under current regulations such meetings are possible, when the Hygiene requirements, which we are now all very familiar with, are obeyed by all the participants. The rules will be communicated well in advance of the meeting. It is needless to say that, in addition, every participant has to take care to obey the rules imposed by their local authorities.

If you would like to register for the local Jena event (in addition to the registration to the virtual WOPM), please visit the following website https://www.biophotonics4future.com/wopm-2021/ and complete the registration form.

Please contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. if you would be interested in registering for the Glasgow event and This email address is being protected from spambots. Looking forward to your participation and let’s keep fingers crossed that we can have a safe and still social local gathering!

June 2021: WOPM-2021 Launch

We are pleased to announce that plans for WOPM 2021 are underway. It will again be an online meeting, but slightly larger than the very successful micro-WOPM organised last year.  The focus will be set on novel concepts, visionary ideas and community supporting presentations. Even with the improving circumstances of the coronavirus pandemic the unreliable nature of international travel in these uncertain times means that it was not felt that we could go ahead with the planned physical meeting in Birmingham.

We are keen to encourage the OPM community to engage with WOPM 2021 and use the meeting to support and strengthen the field locally throughout the world. The gap between sessions or indeed before and after for time zones further afield provide an opportunity for local activities to take place, for example in-person poster sessions and additional presentations from attendees at a host institution. By way of example, we hope to be able to invite colleagues that can travel without restrictions to an impromptu event hosted at the University of Strathclyde that will connect the online presentations to local participants, as a way of bringing the local WOPM community together. We would like to encourage others to support their community in a similar manner to the extent permitted by their local restrictions and institutions. Please inform us if you have plans to host such an event and we can advertise this to the rest of the WOPM community.
